Below are the sections of the magazine, and their needs:

DEPARTMENTS

There are three Departments in the front of the magazine, each running up to 10 short pieces, each from 50 to 250 words, usually with one photo or illustration. The three sections deal with people (Life & Style), property (Hot Hot Property) and items for the home (Buy By Design). We try to cover as many countries in our region as possible, though the Buy By Design items can also come from around the world.

Life & Style – people and their lifestyles

Short items about people and lifestyle in this tropical belt. They might highlight famous personalities visiting, grand parties, the launch or arrival of outstanding yachts, or other snippets of human interest.... each with the exotic, tropical touch.

Hot Hot Property – the latest news in development

Current news items about recent developments in the private home and related industries in each of the target destinations. Includes new developments, new homes, changes in regulations, general property news and more.

Buy By Design – new products; hi-tech and hi-style

New products, furnishings or technology for home decoration. Showcasing the best, the latest and most innovative items. Also includes art and outdoor equipment for garden and pools

FEATURES

Regional Perspective

An in-depth feature on one of the many topics this magazine covers. It should be a topic relevant to the whole region, or several countries within it, and to gain a prominent position in the magazine it should lend itself to beautiful photography. It should include examples and comparisons from different countries and quotes from characters in several countries where possible. It can deal with trends, events, styles etc. that span the region.

Asia-Pacific Personalities

Profile of a prime player or interesting character in the Asia-Pacific property industry, or a related field. Subjects will range from architects, interior designers and developers to property agents, landscape artists, and sometimes simply profiling a fascinating character who has achieved an enviable lifestyle here.

Lifestyle Location

Focus on one particular community in the region – the lifestyles of the people already living there.

Design/Architecture

Design & architecture, interior decoration, landscape gardening, lighting design, home furnishing, sound systems and other fine touches to the finest homes and villas.

HOME SHOWS – The Most Beautiful Homes & Villas in Asia-Pacific

Three or four photo features displaying the most outstanding houses and rental villas throughout the Asia-Pacific region. These will include houses for sale, villas for rent and privately owned homes. Sometimes we will include the resident owners of the house. Most of these photo-based displays will be done in-house by our editors, but we are also open to suggestions.

State of the Environment

Stories on Asia-Pacific’s environmental health; new technologies for environment-friendly development; environmental regulations etc.. We are open to hard-hitting environmental stories that tell the truth about environmental situations in the region.

Some topics planned include the rape of Indonesia forests and the near-extinction of the Javan and Sumatran rhinos. We are looking for more strong topics, and can give authors long lead times to allow good research.

Monkey’s Tale

Got a good story to tell? We are looking for good reading covering a whole range of topics. Perhaps the only limitation is that of geography – it must take place within our Asia-Pacific region.

Other Features

You pitch the topic to the editor. We are looking for all kinds of interesting stories – particularly ones that can be beautifully illustrated – that related to life in the tropics or to the industries that have a connection to our major themes. There will always be something new from our vast, fascinating region. You find it and pitch to our editor in a few simple paragraphs.

BAZAAR

This back-of-the-book section features country specific and legal info for property buyers, display advertising and classified listings.

However it also include short regional news items of up to 500 words that relate to property and the homes industry and short “Letter From” columns: first person accounts of living life in the tropics.
