The Team:
Publisher : John Everingham
A long-time resident of Thailand, John Everingham is a photographer first and writer second. He began shooting photographs as a teenager in Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam War. In 1978 he was expelled from Laos by the communist government after having spent two years as the only western correspondent in "liberated Indochina, working for the Far Eastern Economic Review, the BBC and Newsweek.
Thereafter in Bangkok, John worked as a freelance photographer for many years, contributing to major international magazines including National Geographic, International Wildlife, Newsweek, Geo and many others. In 1986 he founded Artasia Press and began publishing magazines soon thereafter. The company now publishes several of the best-known, high-quality English-language magazines in Thailand.
As the founder and MD of ARTASIA, John has launched each of the company's several magazines, and is very familiar with the 1,000s of details required to bring out the first issue of a new magazine.
Managing Editor: Collin Piprell
Collin Piprell is a Canadian writer and editor based in Thailand. In addition
to the hundreds of published articles he has written on a wide variety of
topics, he is the author of three novels, a collection of occasional pieces,
a diving guide to Thailand, another book on diving, and a book on Thailand's
coral reefs. He has also co-authored a book on Thailand's national parks.
He is currently at work on another novel and a number of other things, or
so he claims.
Born in Edmonton, Canada, he left his heart in Montreal about 26 years ago.
Since then he has lived in England (4 years, Oxford), Kuwait (3 years) and
Thailand (19 or 20 years). He was once considered a good driller and stope
leader (four mining and tunnelling jobs in Ontario and Quebec). Now hes
considered a pretty fair writer and editor with uncommercially eclectic interests.
Associate Editor: Simon J Hand
Simon J Hand has spent the last seven years travelling around and writing about Asia. A self-professed "Jack-of-all-Words," he has written about business in Bangalore, partying in Phnom Penh, lifestyle in Laos, refugees and reformers, the outcast and the indigent, the rich and the righteous. So far none of this has got him into any serious trouble, which surprises him as much as anybody. He is currently working on a novel, but then who isn't.
