Advertising Mechanical Requirements

FULL BLEED PAGE: 230mm x 300mm

OUR TEXT AREA: 190mm X 260mm

Essential text must be at least 10mm in from
the maximum width and depth of any ad.

Production Charges:
Unless agreed otherwise advertisers or agencies will be
billed for mechanical preparation of advertisements,
including typesetting, camera work, copy changes, design
work and output of films.
There is no charge for camera-ready art, colour separated films with
proofs or output from electronic files of finished artwork
that meet the requirements herein .

Preferred Material:
4-colour FILMS: Colour separation films, positive-reading, emulsion side down; halftone:
175-line screen for four-colour. Include four-colour progressive proofs.

2, & 3 colour FILMS: A colour key is required for all two and three colour ads.
ArtAsia Press assumes no responsibility for the quality of
colour ads supplied without a colour key.

Submission of Photographs or Illustrations

Providing original photographs or artwork is the surest way to achieve
high-quality results. We cannot guarantee the quality of images that we have not scanned ourselves. Colour transparencies give the best results. If submitting colour prints please send us the negatives also.

BEWARE: images from digital cameras rarely give satisfactory results.

Electronic Submissions:
ArtAsia Press supports the following programs: PageMaker
6.5, Photoshop 7.0, CorelDraw 10, Illustrator.

For graphics for reproduction please use TIFF format in a large, hi-res file size.
When graphics are being e-mailed for preview please use a low-res JPEG or ZIP format.

PageMaker users, DO NOT embed graphics in
files - link them and include a copy of the original graphics
file. All fonts must be provided (both screen and printer).
If you are working in Freehand, convert all type to paths.
Photos must be scanned at 300 dpi, OR MORE, at final output size.
Black-and-white line art should be scanned at 600 dpi.
Please call for assistance if needed.

Hard copy is required for all output jobs. For multicolour
jobs, colour-separated hard copy (a printout of your file or
ad) should accompany your composite printouts. Hard
copy should be current and printed at actual size. We
cannot be held responsible for errors if hard copy does not
accompany your files.

For every document (both text and graphics), provide the
file name, the application used and any other relative
information. We use PCs but can also accept copy in Mac
format.

We can accept submissions on 3 1/2" floppy; 100-MB ZIP;
CD-ROM; and 600-MB optical disks. Small files can be e-mailed
to us at ying@aapress.net or we can download
directly from your ftp site. Please contact us for details.
Files must be e-mail attachments. To compress a file use
Stuffit Deluxe, PKzip WinZip or one of the other
compression formats supported by these utilities. The file
should be a self-extracting (or a self-exploding) archive.

Publisher's Indemnity:
Advertisers and their agencies are solely responsible and
assume liability for the content of their advertisements.
Advertisers and their agencies further agree to hold
harmless and indemnify the Publisher against any claim
arising from advertisements, including the reasonable cost
of defense. The Publisher reserves the right to reject any
advertising that does not conform to publication standards.
Publisher cannot be held responsible for circumstances
beyond its control, such as a postal strike, an act of God,
or action by any governmental or quasi-governmental
entity.

Finished artwork is required in ARTASIA's Bangkok or Phuket offices not less than
2 months prior the date of publication.
